The AAO Louisa Burns Osteopathic Research Committee (LBORC) and the National Undergraduate Fellows Association (NUFA) conducted their annual research poster competition on March 13 during the AAO’s Convocation in Louisville, Kentucky.
Open to osteopathic medical students, interns, residents, postdoctoral fellows, researchers and practicing physicians, the competition drew 35 posters this year on topics ranging from cranial oscillation to nontraditional teaching of osteopathic manipulative medicine.
The LBORC and NUFA bestowed awards on students from seven osteopathic medical colleges and residents from three hospitals for posters in the following categories: clinical research, case study, and education and public health. New York state dominated the competition this year, with students at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury taking home three of the student awards and with residents at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx collecting all three awards for resident case studies.
The table below lists the winning authors in the 2015 competition and the titles of their 14 posters. All OMS designations in the table are based on the students’ standing in the 2014-15 academic year, during which the competition took place.
