Make a Difference to the Mission

Osteopathic physicians practice the entire scope of modern medicine, bringing a patient-centered, holistic, hands-on approach to diagnosing and treating illness and injury. Osteopathic physicians work in partnership with patients to help them achieve a high level of wellness by focusing on health promotion and disease prevention. Instead of just treating specific symptoms, osteopathic physicians concentrate on treating patients as a whole. Your contribution supports the vision of osteopathic healthcare.

The AAO continues to work to diversify its revenue stream; however, membership dues, publication sales and registrations for educational programs provide only a portion of the funds necessary to sustain and grow the Academy. Over the past several years, contributions have been used to help support the activities of the Academy.

Support the development of The AAO Journal, the only peer-reviewed journal focused on osteopathic manipulative medicine. The AAOJ was established in 1990, and the Academy hopes to further develop it. Goals include moving it from a PDF format to an online hosting provider, which is standard in the academic publishing community, and implementing an online manuscript management service to streamline submissions and peer review. Donate now.

Anne L. Kempf Memorial Fund

This fund is dedicated to financing courses that will teach the founding osteopathic principles as taught by A.T. Still, MD, DO. Donate now.

Nicholas S. Nicholas Fund

The Academy established this special fund in memory of Nicholas S. Nicholas, DO, FAAO, to facilitate increased student participation in the organization’s annual Convocation. Your donation enables the Academy to reduce the tuition charged to osteopathic medical school students who wish to attend this unique educational program dedicated to osteopathic principles and practice. Donate now.

Resident American Academy of Osteopathy

The Academy established this special fund to support the missions and goals of the Resident American Academy of Osteopathy (RAAO) and the Academy’s resident focused activities. Our thanks to Sherri L. Quarles, Executive Director, David R. Boesler, DO, FAAO and Scott M. Wilkie, DO, for their donations to establish this new fund. Donate now.

Some of our fellow AAO member physicians are struggling to pay dues this year. Academy leadership is providing an opportunity for members to donate to help offset the cost of dues for physicians that may be struggling due to the effects of the pandemic. If your dues are paid by your college of osteopathic medicine, hospital, or another entity, we hope you'll consider personally helping to offset the cost of dues for another member. Donate now.

Unrestricted Gifts

You may wish to consider an unrestricted gift to the following funds, an honor gift, a memorial gift, a major restricted gift or a planned gift. We are happy to provide further information and to answer any questions that you may have regarding the AAO and its educational programming. Please contact AAO Executive Director Sherri L. Quarles for more information.

For your tax records, there is no cash value benefit to the donor as a result of contributions. The American Academy of Osteopathy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and your charitable donation should be 100% tax deductible.
