Our 2020 Convocation is just around the corner, and it promises to be an excellent event. Here are just a few things we wanted to bring to your attention before you travel to Colorado Springs, CO.
The American Academy of Osteopathy will be hosting it’s 2020 Pre-Convocation Courses and Annual Convocation as planned.
AAO’s main priorities are the health, safety, and well-being of everyone involved. AAO is monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely and will follow the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), along with state and local health agencies. We will hold meetings with the emergency operations coordinator at The Broadmoor this week.
Should the situation change, we will issue updates as necessary.
Reminders of daily practice of everyday preventive actions:
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects daily.

Registration and check-in
Pre-registered attendees should first check-in at the physician and student kiosks across from the registration desk to print badges and tickets. Type your name to quickly access your tickets. Once you have your badge and tickets in hand, visit the registration desk for the rest of your materials.
The AAO will not provide wireless internet at Convocation, so we recommend downloading as many resources as possible before arriving in Colorado Springs. Overnight guests of The Broadmoor enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi in their guest rooms and the public spaces of the hotel, but this does not include the convention area.
Annual business meeting
Read officers' reports and candidate bios in the 2020 Annual Business Meeting book. If you plan to attend the meeting, remember to bring a text-enabled mobile device to vote. Submit your registration no later than March 7 to ensure your lunch reservation. Members who register after March 7 are invited to attend the meeting, but they will not be served a meal.
Speaker presentations will be posted on the AAO website when available.
The AAO has arranged for cash-only lunch options to be available in the exhibit hall (Broadmoor Hall A) Thursday and Friday. Lunch options will include cold sandwiches, salads, sides and drinks. Grab it and go.
Attendees are responsible for placing the correct attendance tickets in the boxes outside the meeting rooms to verify their attendance at the lectures and breakout sessions. Continuing medical education credits will be reported to the American Osteopathic Association within 60 days after the close of Convocation.
Audio order forms
Lectures in the main lecture hall will be recorded (Broadmoor Hall B), and audio recordings will be available to order. Download the order form now or pick one up at the Osteopathic Education Service in the exhibit hall (Broadmoor Hall A) or at the registration desk.
