As part of the joint American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO) and American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine (AOASM) Convocation, on Thursday, March 24, 2022, the Louisa Burns Osteopathic Research Committee (LBORC) in concert with AOASM will host its annual research forum Research Proposal and Mentorship (RPM) Grand Rounds, from 7 to 9 p.m. EDT. The purpose of this program is to assist physicians and osteopathic medical students in assessing research proposals and to facilitate the outcome of osteopathic research and osteopathic research in sports medicine.

The format for this evening is similar to the TV show “Shark Tank” where aspiring investigators at any stage of their career present their research proposal to the audience and a panel of experienced researchers. The panel directly engages the investigators to help refine and strengthen the research proposals, improving their opportunity for funding and success. The audience also participates by offering questions and suggestions to both the investigators and the panelists regarding the research proposals. Through the ensuing discussion, everyone gains numerous pearls to refine their own research questions and identify ways to improve osteopathic research. Presenters will also have the opportunity for one of the panelist experts to help mentor them during the remainder of the year. A status update on projects presented at previous RPM Grand Rounds is provided at the beginning of this session.
